Digital pianos and Clavinovas are not ordinary furniture
A Yamaha Clavinova, Roland, Kawai or Korg digital piano is a substantial instrument with electronics, amplifiers and internal speakers built into a wooden cabinet that can weigh 60 to over 100 kg. The polished lacquer finish marks easily. The speakers, action components and display panels are sensitive to impact and vibration. The leg assembly and pedal unit are not designed to take the forces that come with being handled like a bookcase by people unfamiliar with the instrument.
PianoSpeed moves digital pianos and Clavinovas for private households, piano teachers, music schools, recording studios and corporate venues across London, Surrey and GB mainland. Get an instant fixed price online in under 60 seconds at book.pianospeed.com.

HOW IT IS DONE
How a digital piano or Clavinova is moved
A cabinet digital piano or Clavinova is moved upright, not on its side. Where the design allows, the crew remove the legs from the main body and protect them separately, wrapping the cabinet in a fitted transit cover before loading it onto a padded piano board and securing it with heavy-duty strapping for the journey.
The pedal unit, music rest and any accessories are packed and stowed separately so nothing loose can shift against the cabinet during transit. At the destination the instrument is reassembled in your room of choice and checked over before the crew leave. If the piano does not have removable legs, it is moved as a single unit on the padded board, carried with the frame clear of every door frame, wall and stair handrail.
ACCESS AND STAIRS
Stairs, tight hallways and upper-floor rooms
A Clavinova going into a first-floor music room or a digital piano coming out of a third-floor flat is everyday work for a specialist piano mover. The combined weight of the cabinet, stand and bench means it is not a job for two people with ordinary furniture straps and a hope that nothing snags.
Stairs are chargeable and the cost is calculated automatically in your online quote from the floor level and whether a lift is available. Where the stairwell is very tight or the angle awkward, we assess the best method and confirm the price before the day so there are no surprises on arrival.

TRANSIT PROTECTION
Protecting electronics in transit
Every digital piano and Clavinova travels wrapped in a triple-thickness, fitted transit cover, not loose blankets or spare duvets. The instrument is loaded onto a padded board, strapped securely inside the van and braced so it cannot move on the road.
If the display panel or music rest protrudes and is at risk during handling, the crew add protection before the piano leaves the room. We do not transport instruments with accessories loose inside the cabinet, and the piano travels disconnected from power and cables throughout.
